Alphabet City and Loisaida Manhattan, NY Private Investigator and Process Server
Alphabet City and Loisaida located within the Manhattan district of New York City, specifically on the Lower East Side of the municipality, hence the name “Loisaida,” a nickname that Puerto Ricans in the area began to use to refer to the Lower East Side and popularized by local poet Bimbo Rivas. It was named “Alphabet City” because the only manhattan avenues named after a single letter are in this area, Avenues A, B, C, and D. Along the traditional northern border of East Village and south of Peter Cooper Village and Stuyvesant Town, the neighborhood is bordered to the north by 14th Street and Houston Street.
However, there is still debate over the boundaries of the East Village, Lower East Side, and Alphabet City. Historically the part known as Loisaida which is the Lower East Side of the Manhattan Township located at the northern end was 14th Street which today Alphabet City is also the same area. Alphabet City and Loisaida are members of Manhattan Community District 3 and include the number 10009 as their primary zip code. Precinct 9 of the NYC Police Department covers the perimeter of the neighborhood and the community Board 3 regulates community projects.
This neighborhood that has served as a cultural and ethnic center has a long history. Since its inception, it has been home to Manhattan’s groups of Poles, Germans, Jews, and Hispanics. The avenues and streets of Alphabet City and Loisaida surrounded by 20th and 19th-century housing complexes with commercial and institutional buildings, adjoining houses and places of worship predominating. There are also the famous Nuyorican Poets Cafe and Tompkins Square Park.
