Castleton Corners Staten Island, NY Private Investigator and Process Server
Castleton Corners is part of one of the five boroughs of New York City, Staten Island. Also, this luxury neighborhood is known by some as Four Corners and is often referred to as the North Coast of Staten Island because of its location in a specific region of the island. Taking reference from the nucleus that forms the intersection of Victory Boulevard and Manor Road is where the word “corners” is derived in the name of the neighborhood.
This part of Staten Island, what is now known as Castleton, was once called Centerville, but in 1872 when a post office opened it became more popularly known as Castleton Corners. The word “Castleton” comes from the birthplace of the colonial governor of the province of New York, Thomas Dongan, who was Cassiltowne in the county of Kildare in Ireland that in 1682 was called New Amsterdam after having been obtained from the Dutch. What is now the main post office on Staten Island as a whole was closed for a while and reopened in 1949 with the postcode 10314.
Castleton Hill separates Castleton Corners from its eastern neighbor Sunnyside which on its western ridge stands out for the two churches facing each other, on one side is the Roman Catholic St. Teresa’s Church and on the other side of Victory Boulevard is the Moravian Castleton Hill Moravian Church. To the southwest and northwest are the corners Meiers and Westerleigh respectively, and to the south rises Todt Hill. Despite its name in Castleton Corners is the Todt Hill public housing project.
