Hammels Queens, NY Private Investigator and Process Server
Hammels is a working-class residential neighborhood situated along the Rockaway Peninsula in Rockaway Beach, another neighborhood belonging to the New York City borough of Queens. It sits between Arverne and Seaside. As part of Rockaway Beach, it has a population of approximately 13.000, with a predominantly white demographic. It is patrolled by the 100th Precinct of the New York City Police Department. Public transportation is not an issue for the commuters of Hammels, Queens. The A train passes through the neighborhood thanks to the IND Rockaway Line. The community is also home to one of the first low-income housing projects in the borough, the NYCHA Hammel Houses, built during the 1950s.
Hammels was named to honor the local businessman and landowner Louis Hammer. In the beginning, the town was conceived to be a summer destination with boardwalks, an exclusive hotel, and fancy bungalows with beachfront views for Newyorkers looking to leave the stressful lifestyle of the City behind them. However, sometime during the 20th century, the popularity of the Rockaways as a summer destination declined, and Hammels became a residential neighborhood instead.
Like the rest of the neighborhoods situated along the Rockaway Peninsula, Hammels was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy back in 2012. Even though a lot of money, time, and other resources have been invested, Hammels hasn’t quite bounced back yet. Overall, Hammels and the rest of the Rockaways are relatively safe, crime-wise. Hammel Playground is the nearest green space, it features picnic tables, three basketball courts and one handball court, and benches.
