Port Morris Bronx, NY Private Investigator and Process Server
Port Morris is a blue-collar, industrial, and residential neighborhood situated along the southwest section of the New York City borough of the Bronx. It is bounded by the Major Deegan Expressway, the Harlem River, the East River, the Bronx Kill, the Bruckner Expressway, and the East 149th Street. Along with fellow neighborhoods Mott Haven, and Melrose, it makes up the Bronx Community Board 1, and its ZIP code is 10454. The streets of Port Morris are patrolled by the police officers at the 40th Precinct of the New York City Police Department. The southernmost tip of the South Bronx, called Oak Point, is within the town limits.
Port Morris has a population of approximately 4.000 with a predominantly Hispanic and Latino demographic. Since the 1980s the town has become the home of an increasing number of Latino immigrants, mostly from Puerto Rico. Additionally, there has also been an increase in African-American families moving into the neighborhood. More than half of the population lives below the poverty line and are currently receiving social assistance from several programs both National and local. Like most neighborhoods in the Bronx, it is difficult to determine when the town was originally founded. Originally, during the early 20th Century, Port Morris was the name to the area known today as Mott Haven.
Public transportation isn’t as much of a problem for Port Morris’ morning commuters. The New York City Subway System has a station at Cypress Avenue, where they can board the 6 train.
