Bay Ridge Brooklyn, NY Private Investigator and Process Server

Bay Ridge is part of Brooklyn New York City located in the southwest corner of the borough. It is a residential neighborhood whose southern border is Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge and Fort Hamilton Army Base, its northern border is Sunset Park, its eastern boundary is Dyker Heights and its western border is Belt Parkway and Narrows. There is a part of the community that is sometimes estimated to occupy a section of the Fort Hamilton sub-neighborhood south of 86th Street.

Formerly, the Bay Ridge area was within the city of New Utrecht occupying the westernmost part of it. This city divided into two smaller towns, to the south, was Fort Hamilton and to the north was Yellow Hook which in 1853 was renamed Bay Ridge to avoid at that time negative connotations with yellow fever. In the mid-19th century, the neighborhood developed as a rural summer resort and in the early 20th century when the Fourth Line of New York City’s Metro Avenue arrived it evolved again as a residential neighborhood. The Bay Ridge neighborhood settled within Brooklyn Community District 10 and the 68th Precinct of the New York City Police Department is guarding the area.

The 43rd District of the New York City Council represents the neighborhood in political or diplomatic matters. It is assigned the numbers 11220 and 11209 as its primary zip codes.  It is an upper/middle-class neighborhood with a population of around 80,000 in 2016. It dominated by its Norwegian community until the early 1990s with 30,000 Norwegian residents. Today it also maintains a considerable population of Greeks, Irish, and Italians.
