Bowne Park is a subsection belonging to the neighborhood of Whitestone in Queens, one of New York City’s five boroughs. It got its name from the public park located to the southeast of the community. Bowne Park is mostly a middle-class residential area. The majority of the residents are homeowners, and 62% of those owners occupied their own homes. Public transportation is somewhat of an issue for the community, as commuters have to travel to neighboring communities to access the NYC Subway system.

One of its main attractions is Bowne Park, a public park founded to honor Walter Bowne, a NY senator who resided in the area. After a massive renovation project in 1994, the park now hosts a wide variety of recreational activities for all ages, such as playgrounds, basketball courts, bocce courts, and walkaways around the famous Bowne Pond, home to a wide variety of turtles.
