Chinatown Manhattan, NY Private Investigator and Process Server

Manhattan’s Chinatown located in the Lower Manhattan area of New York City. Chinatown is a neighborhood in the Western Hemisphere that has been home to the largest concentration of Chinese in the area. This community is placed south of Little Italy, west of the Lower East Side, north of the Civic Center and east of Tribeca. The population of this Chinatown comprised of approximately 90,000 to 100,000 people.

In New York City there are nine Chinatown neighborhoods and twelve in the metropolitan area of the city, which in 2017 was estimated at 893,697 nonracial individuals retaining the largest ethnic Chinese population outside of Asia, and the Chinatown of Manhattan is one of the most famous and oldest ethnic Chinese enclaves in New York. Historically, mainly Cantonese speakers populated Chinatown but a large number of Puerto Rican-speaking immigrants also arrived in the area in the 1980s and 1990s, forming what is now known as Little Fuzhou, an annexed sub-district that forms part of the eastern side of Chinatown.

Now, in addition to their native languages, many Cantonese and Fuzhounese speakers also speak the official language in China and Taiwan, Mandarin. This has motivated Chinatown residents to emphasize the importance of learning to speak and understand Mandarin. For the Chinese diaspora, Manhattan Chinatown remains a dominant cultural force even though the Flushing Chinatown established in Queens Township in New York City has outgrown it in size thanks to its steady growth. Manhattan Chinatown, both in the U.S. and China, is home to numerous publications aimed at Chinese overseas. Chinatown also hosts the Museum of Chinese in America.
