Cypress Hills is part of the Brooklyn district in New York City. This community is a sub-section of the East New York Neighborhood. The area bordered by Cypress Hills Cemetery to the north, City Line to the south, Ozone Park and Woodhaven of Queens Township to the east, and Bushwick to the west. It also surrounded by Atlantic Avenue to the south, Jamaica Avenue and Highland Park Boulevard to the north, Pennsylvania Ave to the west, and Eldert Lane to the east. In this neighborhood is an Arlington branch of the Brooklyn Public Library.

The area occupied by Cypress Hills is small, covering approximately 0.276 square miles, including within the same a population density of 17,089 inhabitants according to data recorded in 2011. This community enjoys a demographic variety composed of the Caribbean, Latin American, African American, Caucasian, and South Asian.

Cypress Hills consists of a housing complex that offers a variety of apartments in New York City. In its streets you can find houses built at the beginning of the century put in rows, most of them exceptionally well maintained and converted into pretty houses of three and two families. On a hill bordering Highland Park are some of these homes, which offer owners spectacular views of the towns of Queens and Brooklyn. Sometimes you can see as far away as the Rockaways in this area on some particularly crystalline days. Thanks to Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation, new housing developments are becoming more affordable for the New York community. Recently the corporation has built from scratch condominium complexes in a contemporary style.
