Fordham Bronx, NY Private Investigator and Process Server

Fordham is an area located in the western part of the Bronx Township of New York City. Located in the middle of different streets and avenues in the Bronx, east of Jerome Avenue, west of Webster, south of 196 East Street and north of Burnside Avenue. The best way to tour the area is through its main roads that run through the entire neighborhood, the Grand Concourse, and the Fordham Road. Fordham’s origin began in 1666 in the territory that is now 225th Street in the neighborhood. The first community in the area was established there by Dutch settler Jan Arcer, near the Harlem River.

This settler owned much of Fordham’s territory at the time, with over 3,000 acres of land in his possession, which the governor of New York at the time, Francis Lovelace, approved for establishment. The origin of the neighborhood’s name has two variants that historians have as hypotheses, it may be a reference to a 14th-century English priest named John Fordham, or it may have been because of its location near a shallow crossroads, ford.

In colonial times a section called Old Fordham Village was created. Today it is known as Fordham Village and is located north of 187th Street and south of 196th Street, east of Jerome Avenue and west of Southern Boulevard. It has a population of approximately 42,000 people and its postal service serves under the zip codes 10468, 10458, 10457 and 10453. Fordham belongs to the Bronx Community number 7.
