Kensington is a village that in turn occupies a part of the Great Neck Peninsula, which belongs to the county of Nassau established more specifically within the north coast of the Long Island district of New York City in the United States of America. According to data recorded in 2010 during the national census, Kensington’s population was about 1,161 at that time. Currently, the village mayor is Susan Lopatkin, while the deputy mayor is Darren Kaplan. In the city of North Hempstead, the town of Kensington is located in the 17th electoral district.

It is given the number 11021 to serve as its main code in the village postal service. The community of Kensington encompasses a total land area of about 0.2 square miles or 0.6 km² in total according to data provided by the U.S. Census Bureau. The village of Kensington was incorporated as a village on 7 November 1921 by the unanimous vote of the residents of the area. Byron Eldred was unanimously elected the first mayor, and the first elections of administrators and civil servants were held on 28 November 1921.

The village of Kensington is established in the city of North Hempstead, right in the 17th electoral district. Village Election Day is held every year from noon until 9:00 p.m. on the third Tuesday in March at City Hall. The Kensington Association wrote the waterfront park in August 1915, including a boat dock, one of the largest freshwater pools in the U.S., a 500-foot sandy beach, tennis courts, and miniature lakes.
