Queens West Queens, NY Private Investigator and Process Server
Queens West, as its name suggests, is located in the Queens neighborhood of Long Island City in New York City. To the south of Anable Basin at Hunter’s Point and along the East River this redevelopment project was approved. The Empire State Development Corporation (ESD) along with the New York Port Authority are the sponsors of this joint project. To facilitate and promote the district development plan, in 1992 Queens West Development Corporation was founded to financially support the ESD.
Much of Long Island City’s underutilized industrial zone was brownfield land, and when the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced a new development along the coast, the Queens West project was first published in 1983.
One year later, the legal authorization for the development of the project was approved. However, there were several delays. One of them was the need to buy land from several landowners. Also, approximately one-quarter of the proposed property was underwater.
The Port Authority had only bought about one-third of the land needed when the Empire State Development Corporation decided to be part of the project in 1989.
In the beginning, the planning and execution process for the development of the waterfront underwent several changes because there were no specific proposals for Long Island City. One of the plans included constructing 11 residential buildings with about 4,500 units on 44 acres, as well as state parks, a public library, two public schools that would occupy 13 acres of land and 120,000 square feet of shops places.
