Sandy Ground Staten Island, NY Private Investigator and Process Server
Situated within the neighborhood of Rossville in the South Shore of the New York City borough of Staten Island lies one of the oldest surviving African-American communities in the United States dating back to the time of the American Civil War, Sandy Ground. The land was purchased by free African-Americans a few months after slavery was abolished in the state of New York, to this day some of the original buildings are still standing five of them have been registered as New York City Landmarks. Some residents still live within this historic community.
As a part of Rossville, the community is bounded by Arthur Kill, Woodrow, and Arden Heights. It is also part of the Staten Island Community Board 3 along with Charleston, Annadale, Tottenville, Bay Terrace, Huguenot, Richmond Valley, Eltingville, Prince’s Bay, Greenridge, Pleasant Plains, and Great Kills. The capable police force over at the 123rd Precinct of the New York City Police Department is in charge of patrolling the streets of Rossville and Sandy Ground, and its ZIP code is 10309. Nowadays, the community of Sandy Ground and the Sandy Ground Historical Museum are preserved by the Sandy Ground Historical Society. While the rest of Rossville, once-fertile a farmland has been transformed into a suburban neighborhood, the Historical Society has worked hard since 1980 to preserve the farming roots of Sandy Ground. To this date, most of the residents of the community are direct descendants from the original settlers.
