The population of what is known as the Incorporated Village of Great Neck is about 9,989 according to data provided in the national census conducted in 2010. On the other hand, the residential community of the largest area of Great Neck comprises about 40,000 people distributed among the nine villages and other villages of the city of North Hempstead, whose northwest quadrant is formed by Great Neck. The town is attributed five main zip codes ranging from 11020 to 11024 which are linked by a school district and a park district.

Hamlets are locally unrecognized statistical entities, which in turn designated to various unincorporated territories consolidated by the census. However, Saddle Rock Estates, Manhasset, Harbor Hills, and University Gardens are some of the locally recognized neighborhoods that are part of the perimeters of the village. The Third Precinct of the Nassau County Police Department is responsible for patrolling the area. Great Neck mostly characterized as a dormitory community but it does have a few tourist attractions, such as the Parkwood pool and skating rink complex.
