Greenwich Village Manhattan, NY Private Investigator and Process Server

Greenwich Village located within Lower Manhattan to the west side of Manhattan Township in New York City. The neighborhood is also known commonly as the Village, a term often used mostly by locals in the area. Generally speaking, the Greenwich Village neighborhood placed north of Houston Street, south of 14th Street, east of the Hudson River, and west of Broadway. The community is also made up of several subsections, west of Seventh Avenue is the West Village and in the northwest corner of Greenwich Village is the Meatpacking District.

Groenwijck is a word of Dutch origin belonging to a village in the Netherlands meaning Green District, whose word was anglicized to Greenwich to give the name to this neighborhood of Manhattan. In the 20th century, the cradle of the modern LGBT movement, several artists, and the capital of Bohemia have found their refuge and home in this neighborhood. It has also served as the birthplace on the east coast for the counterculture of the 1960s and the Beat movements.

Greenwich Village contains two of New York’s private schools, the New School and New York University known by the abbreviation of NYU, as well as houses the Washington Square Park. This community belongs as a member of Manhattan Community District 2 while the 6th Precinct of the New York City Police Department covers and guards the area. It was assigned the following zip numbers: 10003, 10011, 10014 and 10012. Due to the extensive marketing and gentrification process that has gone through Greenwich Village, residential property sales prices have increased, ranking the neighborhood as one of the ten most expensive in the United States.
