Head of the Harbor is one of the villages that are part of Suffolk County, established within the north coast of the Long Island district of New York City in the United States of America. The population of this village was about 1,472 people in total at that time, according to data calculated and recorded in 2010 when the country’s national census was conducted. In 1928 it became an incorporated village, which in turn belongs to the city of Smithtown in New York, and is better known as The Village of Head of the Harbor.

It attributed to the numbers 11780 and 11790 as its primary postal service codes. Stony Brook Harbor is located north of the village. The village of Head of the Harbor covers an area of 3.0 square miles or 7.8 km2 in total, of which 7.52% is water and about 2.8 square miles is land. The northern border of the town is with Stony Brook Harbor, the southern boundary is with the town of St. James, the eastern boundary with Stony Brook, and finally, the western border is with the town of Nissequogue.

The community of Head of the Harbor characterized for being mainly agricultural and residential composed of approximately 525 households in the area, also this village besides being an attractive center for many is known for its numerous parks, its winding rural roads, its coast on the pristine port of Stony Brook, its beautiful landscapes and its scenic views and a significant and preserved sense of history.
